Vocationist Fathers |
|
A Vocationist has an universal spirit. The SDV wants to form priest for universal sanctification. The founder, Venerable Fr. Justin M. Russolillo, Italian, was praying , in his private room, in front of a crucifix and a big Atlas, turning its pages and praying for all nations. He wants that at the foot of the altar must be a globe in order to offer the world to the Holy Trinity in every Mass. The Philippines was the first Asian country to ask the presence of Vocationist Fathers, followed by India. SDV is in the Philippines to give to poor young men the chance to be a priest of Jesus Christ, in spite of their material poverty and difficulties and promote the salvation and sanctification of people.
THE FATHER JUSTIN VOCATIONARY in Mati It
was the Bishop of Mati, Davao Oriental,
Mindanao
island, who asked first the Vocationist Fathers to run the diocesan
St. Therese of C.J. Pre-college Seminary. After a visit of Fr.
Nicola Martino sdv, in November- December 1994, on January 18,
1995, was approved the opening of the seminary and the SDV Superior
General, Fr. Raphael Castiglione asked the bishop, Msgr. Patricio H.
Alo, the construction of the Pre-college Seminary, under the
financial support of Kirche in Not,
Germany.
We read in the contract with the Diocese of Mati that Vocationist Fathers are called “ to foment vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood and in line with their charism, to promote and cultivate also vocations to religious life, as well as missionary vocations; the property at Tua-Tua is leased perpetually to them as long as they work for vocations.” Fr. Nicola Martino and Bro. Lorenzo Gomez started to live in the little seminary on January 18, 1996, still without water and electricity. With the grace of God, the Pre-college Seminary received the final blessing on June 29, 1996 and started the regular formation classes. The first batch were only 10 seminarians and, thanks be to God, 3 are already priests, meanwhile other 2 are finishing theology. Bro. Jeremy Soldevilla, Philippine from Usa, took the place of Bro. Gomez and started Theology in Regional Major Seminary of Davao City, helping Fr. Nicola on Saturday –Sunday. The following year Fr. Nicola was appointed Master of Novitiate and two novices, already College graduate, entered Vocationist Novitiate.
During the 1998/9, through the support of Italian benefactors, the Fr. Justin Vocationary was built up, for recollections, acceptance of new aspirants and accommodation of novices. A new deep well with a submersible pomp was excavated. During the 1999/2000 was built was the Chapel of Universal Sanctification, for the seminarians, novices and religious. The Bishop Patricio H. Alo gave also the faculty to celebrate the festive Holy Mass for the people of Tua-Tua, far from the Parish-Cathedral and without transportations. In this way the Vocationist House of formation in Mati can enjoy a beautiful compound, in silent surroundings, truly fitting for priestly and religious formation, singing with blue birds, breathing the green air of the trees, walking under a luminous smiling moon, and enjoying the contemplative silence with the near Carmelite monastery. At the present update the Superior of Mati is Fr. Allan Daclan sdv, and Vice is Fr. Thaddeus Arariele sdv.

Martinez Andrew , now in Theology 4, in SDV Indonesia. On January 11, 2000 we received from the Government Security Exchange Commission (SEC), the approval of the legal Corporation : Divine Vocation Community, Inc. We bought, with donations of Italian benefactors, 13 lots of land in Catalunan Grande, Montemaria Subdivision, Phase 2 , Gold street ; we prepared project and Municipality Building Permit for the construction of the Vocationary in Davao. On November 1, 2000, All Saint’s Day and Vocationist feast of Universal Sanctification, started the official construction of the HOLY TRINITY Vocationary. An Icon of the Holy Trinity, images of Our Lady of Divine Vocations , St. Joseph, and Fr. Justin Russolillo, our Venerable founder, were blessed and inserted in the pillars foundation of the Vocationary by Fr. Nicola Martino. In SDV Constitutions, art.13, we read : “ The Vocationary welcomes and forms, both spiritually and academically, free of charge, all those who show signs of a vocation and have not yet decided wether to enter the seminary or join a specific Religious Community”. We welcome you, young people, who want to answer the calling of God ! In August 2001 the Vocationist community from Juna Sub. was transferred in the new Holy Trinity Vocationary ,because the phase 1 of construction was finished. Superior was Fr. Nicola, coming from Mati every week to teach Latin in Seminary; vice- superior is Fr. Rosario Taliano sdv, ordained in January in Italy. On September 20, the Archbishop of Davao, Msgr. Fernando Capalla, blessed the Vocationary and celebrated with the community the Anniversary of the Priestly Ordination of Fr. Justin. From now on, both the Vocationary in Mati and in Davao, welcome every year new aspirants for priesthood and religious life. Fr. Nicola Martino, on June 4 , 2004 was transferred as Superior and Master of Novitiate in Davao City, with Fr. Stephen Ehiahurike sdv, Nigerian, as Spiritual Director. In Mati the new Superior was Fr. Edmundo Escobal sdv, with Fr. Thaddeus Arariele sdv, Nigerian, as spiritual director. Vocationist service for vocations is social, educational and religious. Social because promotes the social development of young people : all vocationarians come from very ordinary families, who cannot afford College studies expenses. Educational because gives to the young people a good academic formation. Religious because forms good Christian people or priests, servant-leaders of the people of God. At the present update Fr. Nicola Martino sdv, is the Superior, Fr. Randy sdv, is Vice- superior. Telefax – Land Line (063) 082 – 2990817 – cell + 63 9194781653. E-mail :
THE DIVINE UNION VOCATIONARY in Maasin The SDV Superiors decided to have a new house for Novitiate, because in the Holy Trinity Vocationary of Davao there were Vocationarians in College studies, Theologians, and novices. Fr. Angelito Rosales sdv, who was Superior of Davao Vocationary from June 2003 to June 2004, was transferred by the Superior General Fr. Louis Caputo sdv, to Maasin City, Southern Leyte, to prepare the construction of the SDV Divine Union Vocationary. Fr. Angelito Rosales, even so busy by teaching in St. Joseph Catholic College of Maasin, bought a land out of Maasin City, on a green hill, with a view on the sea, and started the Novitiate construction under the support of SDV and benefactors. Fr. General Louis Caputo, sdv, was happy to bless and inaugurate the Novitiate House on May 11, 2007, feast of Our Lady of Divine Vocations. Fr. Stephen Ehiahuruike was appointed Superior and Master of Novitiate, Fr. Angelito as economus and Vice- superior. Every year the Novitiate welcomes some graduate in Davao for the Novitiate, for 1 canonical year of Vocationist spirituality before the profession of Vows and Theology. We bless the Lord because our Novitiate is a conducive place to encounter God in prayer and meditation. It is also open to groups for a day of recollection; young people also can have their “search in “ in order to decide to enter priestly formation. May the Divine Union Vocationary be for many a starting point of an intimate relationship toward the Divine Union with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. At the present update : Fr. Stephen Ehiahuruike sdv is the Superior, Fr. Laurence Edakkalathur, indian, economus . There is no land line telephone Land line. – Cell +6390t3643344 -
