Sr. Antonia Colafemmina was born at Acquaviva delle Fonti Bari on June 14, 1937 from Nicola and Amalia Vendrame.On June 17, 1952 joined the Vocationist Sisters and starter her period of formation. On May 23,the Pentecost Eve, starter the Novitiate and on May 28, 1955 took her first Vows in the hand of the Venerable Founder, Fr. Justin M. Russolillo. Her first assignment was at Badia Di Cava, Salerno where she taught a group of girls embroidery. She then was sent to Marcianise to get the diploma as Nursery school Teacher. On October 1, 1961 she took her Perpetual Vows.The superiors, noticing in her skills and talents, sent her to Rome to get the degree as an elementary school teacher.She was appointed the Postulants mistress and then the novices' mistress. In 1976 she became the Local Superior of the community of Via Squillace, Rome, where Sisters run an Elementary School and the Junior Sisters resided. At the end of her term, she was appointed as Superior of the Piaanura’s Community. During the General Chapter of the 1981 she was elected General Counselor as Dean of the Studies. She was sent to Brazil as Delegate of the Mother general and as the Novices Mistress Sr. Antonietta became Superior of the Community of Marano and then of The Mother House in Pianura.During the General Chapter of 1998, she was elected Vicar general and at the next Chapter, 2004 she became the Superior General. |
